Escape to the idyllic French countryside and rediscover peace and quiet in our traditional stone farmhouse

Being on the top of a mountain has it's advantages - when it's cloudy and smoggy in the valley ("in the muck" as we call it) the skies can be completely clear at Ardennes. A soggy day in Issoire is a beautiful snowy day in St Germain l'Herm. And when the heat in the valley is oppressive, it can be a few degrees cooler and far more comfortable back at the farmhouse.

However it also suffers typical mountain weather and so is subject to sudden change. For an up to date weather forecast for the local area, please click on the weather map below.

Please note - as the garden is south facing and usually protected from the wind, what seems like a mere 25 degrees in the outer area, can mean a scorching 45 degrees on the patio, and even dark skin will burn. So please be sensible and slip, slap, slop as necessary.
